On January 22, 2012, just before 5pm, Pukatawagan RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of shots fired near a local residence.

Investigation revealed that an adult male had exited a residence in the community with a shotgun and fired a number of shots at a pick-up truck. There were 5 occupants in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, 3 men and 2 women. Police say that there were no injuries.

40-year-old Kelsey Perry Bighetty has been arrested and remains in custody.

Bighetty has been charged with a number of Criminal Code offences including attempted murder, discharge of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possessing a firearm while prohibited and breach of probation.

The accused is scheduled to appear in The Pas Provincial Court on January 26, 2012.

Police continue to investigate.
