Matt Franczyk of the Steinbach Pistons is keen to share his hockey knowledge to young players, earning him the Manitoba Pork Peak Performer of the Month for January.
The classy Pistons’ defenceman has worked on the ice all season with a Steinbach squirt team, helping players with skill development while passing on valuable tips. In addition to being quite the accomplished hockey instructor, Matt has demonstrated he’s not afraid of a little hard work.
“In the neighbourhood where Matt lives in Steinbach he’s helped open a neighbourhood outdoor rink for kids to play on and have fun with hockey,” said MJHL Commissioner Kim Davis, explaining Franczyk’s selection for Manitoba Pork Peak Performer.
“His contributions didn’t stop at the hockey rink. In January he visited local elementary schools and worked with students focusing on Numeracy Month initiatives. Matt has set the example for other MJHL players in terms of showing how much they can give back to their community.”
