On February 11, 2012, at about 3 am, Winnipegosis RCMP were dispatched to a call of an altercation at a residence on Pine Creek First Nation.
Upon arrival at the residence a male was located deceased in the residence. Police say that his death is being treated as a homicide, an autopsy is scheduled for February 12 in Winnipeg.
RCMP Winnipegosis along with investigators from the RCMP Major Crime Services and the RCMP Forensic Identification Section are currently investigating this incident.

The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Steven Ray Genaille of Duck Bay, Manitoba.
On February 15, 2012, 48-year-old George Louis Lamirande of Pine Creek FN was arrested and charged with second degree murder. He remains in custody pending a February 21 court appearance in Dauphin. Lamirande and Genaille were known to each other.
An autopsy was conducted in Winnipeg and the cause of death has been attributed to blood loss due to trauma.
