On March 6, 2009 shortly before 9 a.m., a 6-year-old Red Sucker Lake First Nation child who was a passenger on a snowmobile was injured in an accident.

The child came off the snowmobile and suffered life-threatening injuries.

The boy was rushed to the Red Sucker Lake Nursing Station and subsequently medevaced to the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre.

In the early hours of March 15, 2009, he succumbed to his injuries.

The child’s name will not be released as family consent has not been obtained by police. RCMP Island Lake Detachments have completed the investigation and no foul play is suspected and no charges are contemplated. The child was not wearing a helmet at the time of the
accident.
