Over the last few days, Portage la Prairie RCMP have issued fines to 12 individuals for trespassing at Splash Island.
Just before 3am on July 26, 2012, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a report of individuals swimming at Splash Island. Police attended and located 3 individuals who had jumped the fence and went swimming in the pool.
Charged with trespassing on private property under the Petty Trespass Act are 21-year-old Marlin Daniels of Portage la Prairie, 18-year-old Channelle Twiss of High Bluff, along with a 15-year-old male youth from Long Plain FN.
Just after 2am on July 30, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to another report of individuals swimming at Splash Island. Police attended and located 9 individuals who had jumped the fence and went swimming in the pool.
Charged with trespassing on private property under the Petty Trespass Act are 19-year old Chase Blackbird, 18-year-old Mackayla Brands, 18-year-old Bailey Zerkee, a 17-year-old male youth and 2 females from Portage la Prairie, along with 19-year-old Devin Klassen and 18-year-old Darion Trotter from Oakville and 18-year-old Jeannette Slate of Southport.
RCMP report that both incidents were caught on video surveillance with no damage being done to the property.
Police continue to investigate.
