RCMP are investigating a fatality involving a pedestrian that occurred this past week near Gypsumville, Manitoba.

On August 23, 2012, at 11pm, Gypsumville RCMP were called by local EMS advising that a male was observed walking northbound on the east shoulder of Highway 6 near Maple Beach Road between Fairford and St. Martin junction. Concerns were raised as it was believed the man may be under the influence of alcohol.

RCMP Officers were on the way to find the individual, when within minutes, a 911 call was received of a deceased male on Highway 6. At 11:20pm, officers arrived on scene. A 38-year-old resident of Fairford First Nation, was found deceased on Highway 6 in the southbound lane.

The investigation into this fatal collision continues with the assistance of an RCMP Traffic Reconstructionist. Early indications are that the deceased was lying on the road when he was struck.
