On December 2, 2012, at about 4am, Prairie Mountain area RCMP officers were dispatched to a report of a serious assault in St. Lazare. Officers were told the victim was being transported to Hospital.

RCMP attended the local area Hospital where it was learned that there was in fact two victims of assault. The victims, identified as a 24-year-old male of St. Lazare and a 25-year-old male of the RM of Ellice, informed officers that the suspect struck the pair with a metal pipe over a disagreement which occurred on a street in St. Lazare.

RCMP report that a 17-year-old male youth has been arrested and charged in this incident. Police say that the youth faces two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of assault with a weapon and one count of possessing a weapon for dangerous purpose. He has been remanded into custody to appear in Brandon Court.

Police say that the injuries sustained by the victims are considered extensive but non-life threatening.
