A 44-year-old Opaskwayak Cree Nation man is facing impaired driving charges after his truck collided head-on with another truck, killing the driver of the oncoming vehicle.

On December 21, 2012, The Pas RCMP Detachment along with area Fire and EMS responded to a head-on collision on Highway 10, about 15 kilometres north of The Pas involving a GMC and Ford pick-up truck.

The driver of the Ford pick-up truck, identified as a 63-year-old man from Shoal River FN, was found deceased at the scene and the driver of the GMC pick-up truck, identified as 44-year-old John Anthony Ducharme of Opaskwayak Cree Nation, was taken to The Pas Health Centre in stable condition.

The driver of the GMC pickup truck has been charged with impaired driving causing death and driving while prohibited. Police say that further charges are anticipated
