Two people are facing drug trafficking charges after police seized a quantity of powdered cocaine during a vehicle stop in Thompson earlier this week.

Just after midnight on January 8, 2013, Thompson RCMP stopped a black Dodge Ram on Elder Avenue in Thompson. The vehicle stop resulted in police located and seizing approximately 137 grams of powdered cocaine.

RCMP report that 45-year-old Stanley William Mercredi of Thompson and 35-year-old Francis Thomas Linklater of Winnipeg were arrested and charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. Both were released from custody and will be appearing in Thomson court on March 8, 2013.

Police say that the street value of the cocaine is estimated at $13,000.
