On January 17, 2013, around 1:30am, Ashern RCMP as well as local emergency services were dispatched to the scene of a fatal snowmobile collision in the RM of Grahamdale.

Initial investigation indicate that two adult males had been operating snowmobiles on a maintained snowmobile trail. While negotiating a turn, both snowmobiles left the trail and collided with trees.

RCMP report that one driver, a 38-year-old man from Moosehorn, Manitoba, was operating a 2010 Yamaha. He was transported to hospital with what are reported to be non-life threatening injuries. The second driver, a 33-year-old man from Ashern, Manitoba, was driving a 2008 Yamaha. He was transported to hospital and later pronounced deceased.

Police say that helmets were in use at the time of the collision and alcohol is not considered a contributing factor at this time.
