An RCMP officer was recently arrested and charged after being allegedly involved in a domestic dispute with his common-law partner.

On March 7, 2013, RCMP in the East District received a report from a female of an alleged assault. The woman, a common-law partner of a male RCMP officer, contacted police saying that she was threatened and assaulted the previous evening and in the early morning.

During the course of the investigation, another allegation of assault was brought forward dating back to early February, 2013.

RCMP report that on March 7, 2013, the 41-year-old officer, who was allegedly involved, was arrested. He was released on a Promise to Appear with conditions to appear in Provincial court in April, 2013. On March 12, he was charged with two counts of assault and one count of uttering threats.

Police say that the victim did not suffer injuries or require any medical treatment in either incident. The officer is presently on administrative duties pending a more comprehensive review at which time his status could change.
