Vic Toews, announces funding for the Festival des sucres in St-Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba.

“Canadians have every reason to be proud of their communities and to celebrate their collective sense of belonging to a unique place in this country,” said Minister Toews. “Our Government wants to partner with communities and ensure that future generations are aware of their origins and Canada’s rich and diverse heritage.”

The Musée de St. Pierre Jolys Inc., a local, incorporated, non-profit organization will receive funding of $10,400 for the 2013 Festival des sucres.

This year’s festival runs from April 8 through April 14, 2013 and includes musical performances and presentations of local history and heritage.

The Government of Canada created the Building Communities through Arts and Heritage program in September 2007. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in local activities that present arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage. This program will benefit many community events and celebrations throughout Canada this year.
