On May 2, 2013, at 9am, Gimli RCMP as well as local emergency services were dispatched to the scene of a fatal, two-vehicle collision on Highway 7, about 3 km south of Arborg, Manitoba.

Investigation indicates that a 1994 Buick Century was traveling south on Highway 7 when the driver lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic. The Buick was struck on the drivers side by a northbound 2013 Ford Escape.

The driver of the Buick, a 76-year-old man from Arborg, Manitoba, was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased. His name will not be released. The driver of the Ford, a 37-year-old man from Teulon, Manitoba, was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

RCMP report that there were no other vehicles or persons involved and that the roads were slippery and ice-covered at the time of the collision.

An RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst attended to assist with the ongoing investigation.
