On May 16, 2013, shortly before 8am, Oakbank RCMP responded to a call that a local area Golf and Country Club in the RM of Springfield had been broken into and several high end golf clubs, golf bags and golf clothing apparel had been stolen. The items stolen have an estimated value of over $14,000.

Police investigation into the break-in led RCMP officers to a residence in the 500 Block of Windsor Avenue in Winnipeg. On May 17, a search warrant was executed at the residence and stolen items were recovered. The items seized included numerous golf bags, golf clubs and golf clothing apparel.

RCMP report that three males were arrested at the residence and escorted back to Oakbank RCMP Detachment.

Evidence gathered during this investigation resulted in additional charges on a separate break-in at the same golf course April 14, 2013.

37-year-old Tyrone James Romaniuk of Winnipeg has been charged with two counts of break, enter and theft over $5,000 and two counts of possession of stolen property obtained by crime. 46-year-old Joseph Peter Romaniuk of no fixed address in Winnipeg is charged with break, enter and theft over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime and breach of probation.

Both individuals are currently in custody pending a court appearance May 21 in Winnipeg. The third individual arrested was released without charges.

Several RCMP units as well as the Winnipeg Police Service and the Springfield Police Service provided assistance at various stages of this investigation.
