Michael “Pinball” Clemons will be the guest speaker at this year’s Worship in the City at KR Barkman Park in Steinbach on Sunday, June 16th.

Summer in the City is happy to once again be promoting Worship in the City as the third and final day in a weekend packed full of family activities for the Southeast. Worship in the City committee chair Art Enns says “The Sunday morning service is meant to be one of inspiration and worship. It follows two exciting days of festival food, midway rides, kid’s activities and more. We feel it’s a good blend into the weekend and an important part of our community.” The event has been warmly received, with a few thousand people packing into KR Barkman Park (Main Street, Steinbach) for last year’s event.

This year’s guest speaker will be Michael “Pinball” Clemons. Clemons is an icon of sporting excellence, community leadership, personal character and integrity. The Economics graduate is the pro-football world record holder in all purpose yards which earned him induction into the CFL Hall of Fame. He is also the first and only black head coach to win the Grey Cup in its 98 years, but is probably better known for his off-the-field exploits. Pinball is the founder of his own foundation whose most noteworthy project to-date is building 131 schools in third world countries over five years. The author, philanthropist and entrepreneur is currently the vice-chair of the Toronto Argonauts. Also a member of the distinguished Order of Ontario, Clemons’ proudest accomplishment is to be the husband of Diane and father of Rachel, Raven and Rylie.

Worship in the City is also well known for highlighting exceptional local entertainers. This year will feature the unique group Island Breeze. Island Breeze Manitoba is a ministry of Youth With a Mission (YWAM). Enjoy music and dance as Island Breeze shares their cultural gifts and takes you on an exciting journey through the Pacific.
