Steinbach’s StormReady and Emergency Operations Team will be manning an information booth at the Summer in the City street festival this weekend.

“We use Summer in the City as an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of emergency preparedness,” said Denis Vassart, Steinbach’s Emergency Planning Coordinator, “we also inform the public about the City’s plan in the event of an emergency.”

The City’s Emergency Operations Centre Team is responsible for implementing the Emergency Plan when an emergency grows beyond the day to day situations normally handled by the Fire Department, Police, and Ambulance.

Steinbach’s Storm Ready Team will also be available to answer questions and talk to the public. The team is a dedicated group of people that volunteer their time to watch the skies during summer months to keep citizens of Steinbach aware of severe weather that could impact the area.

“We enjoy talking to the public about the role of Storm Spotters – it is definitely the right time of year to talk about severe weather,” adds Vassart, an avid weather watcher himself.

Steinbach’s Emergency Preparedness Team hopes for good weather this weekend and looks forward to your visit to their booth at Summer in the City!
