The City of Steinbach is looking forward to a full day of celebration activities on Canada Day, Monday, July 1st. The City has teamed up with the Mennonite Heritage Village to promote family fun activities starting with free admission to the museum at 10am until the fireworks finale at 10:45pm at the Steinbach Soccer Park.

In addition to an official flag raising ceremony at 1pm at the museum, there will be a kid’s storytelling show, wagon rides and family entertainment throughout the afternoon. Families are then encouraged to bring a picnic to the Steinbach Soccer Park and pick their spot for the evening celebration. New this year, starting at 8pm, DJ Brenton will be entertaining the crowd with music and games. From 9-10:30p.m. free Canada Day cupcakes, glowsticks, paper flags and stick-on tattoos will be handed out. The fireworks display is set to start no earlier than 10:45pm.

Prime viewing locations for the fireworks will be in the Soccer Park, Southland Church parking lot, L.A. Barkman Park (Abe’s Hill) and along McKenzie Avenue and Bush Farm Road.

The City is looking for ten or so volunteers to assist with handing out the cupcakes and other free giveaways. If you are interested in volunteering, please call 204-346-6231 or e-mail hchambersewen@steinbach.ca.

The City gratefully acknowledges the financial contribution from the Department of Canadian Heritage’s Celebrate Canada Program.
