The 45th Annual Steinbach Chamber of Commerce Pioneer Days Parade is just around the corner and this year, the Chamber has elected to help the community celebrate local achievements through the choice of our 2013 theme “Celebrating Our Champions!”
It is no secret that the past several years have seen Steinbach and the surrounding area collecting championships, awards, accolades, and global attention for excellence in a variety of fields. The Chamber will be Celebrating by appointing Penn-Lite Electrical & Mechanical Ltd, the 2012 Business of the Year Award Winners, as Honorary Parade Marshalls to lead this year’s parade. They will be followed by the 2013 MJHL Champions, our very own Steinbach Pistons!
The Chamber will continue collecting parade entries until July 24th. There is no fee to enter, and everyone is welcome to participate. We would encourage businesses to look within their own organization for Champions to Celebrate – possibly an employee has a son or daughter who plays on a soccer or softball team, or students who participated in the academic skills competitions, won awards or achieved excellence in music or the arts, or maybe your business has won an award – incorporate it into your parade entry as we celebrate as a community! There’s also nothing wrong with choosing to pay tribute to a local team and decorating your entry as such!
Don’t forget – for those of you watching the parade – Farm Credit Canada and SE Helping Hands will once again be pushing shopping carts and collecting donations along the parade route – use the bag you plan to collect candy in to bring a tin for the bin to the parade!
This year we will play host to a special appearance by the STARS Air Ambulance! This Champion in the Emergency Services industry will be wowing the crowd with a fly-over and will land in the Elmdale School Playground after the parade for a Show & Tell time. Bring your cameras and head down to the school yard after the parade!
