On July 17, 2013, just after 4:30am, Portage la Prairie RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of an armed robbery at the convenience store on Dakota Tipi First Nation.

Investigation revealed that two males armed with a knife and a firearm entered the premises in an attempted robbery and eventualy fled the premises empty handed. Police say that the lone male employee was not injured.

The suspects are described as tall and thin, wearing dark clothing with their faces covered.
