Steinbach RCMP are urging the public to practise safety by utilizing the cross-walks in the City of Steinbach.

Police have received several complaints from the citizens of Steinbach regarding near collisions between vehicles and pedestrians, particularly on Main Street near the Steinbach Credit Union and the Post Office.

Complaints received are referring to pedestrians parking on one side of the street and walking to the various businesses, not using the cross-walks when crossing the road.

RCMP remind the public that cross-walks are provided to allow for the public to safely cross the road. With the large medians, such as the ones on Main Street, it can be difficult for pedestrians to cross and the likelihood of falling or not being seen by a motorist is much greater.
