The Steinbach Landfill will be the recipient of new trees thanks to the TD Tree Days program. On September 15th, 145 new trees will be planted along the east side of the landfill site, providing an additional buffer between the landfill and area residents.

“We are very excited about these new trees,” says Solid Waste Department Head, Eldon Wallman, “eventually the landfill will be all green space – a long time in the future, but these trees will be part of that plan.”

Now in its fourth year, TD Tree Days invites Canadians to plant trees at local events across the country.

Steinbach has increased its tree count substantially this summer. An additional 500 trees were also planted as part of a separate City Council mandated initiative.
