After a lengthy investigation that began in 2009, Beausejour RCMP have charged 53-year-old Harvey Giesbrecht, a former resident of Beausejour, with 25 counts of fraud.

On July 23, 2009, a police investigation commenced after RCMP learned of financial irregularities at a Beausejour business, previously known as Russell’s Funeral Home. The funeral home was operated by Harvey Giesbrecht. Giesbrecht was alleged to have collected payment for prearranged funerals but failed to use the monies for the intended purposes.

Beausejour RCMP have now charged 53-year-old Harvey Giesbrecht, a former resident of Beausejour, with 25 counts of fraud. The charges consist of 18 counts of fraud under $5,000 and 7 counts of fraud over $5,000 that span between October 2003 and July 2009. Giesbrecht, who is currently residing in Alberta, was served a summons on September 16, 2013. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in Beausejour Provincial Court on October 22, 2013.
