On October 5, 2013, at about 4am, Selkirk and East St. Paul RCMP, Fire and EMS were dispatched to a single vehicle collision in the 3700 block of Henderson Highway.

At the scene, a car was found in the east ditch. Early investigation shows that the car was traveling north on Henderson Highway when the driver lost control of the car and rolled. There were with two passengers along with the driver in the car.

Police say that the driver was identified as a 19-year-old female of Winnipeg. The driver, along with a female passenger were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A 20-year-old male passenger of Winnipeg perished in the collision.

The driver has been released from the hospital and is in police custody. She will face charges of impaired driving causing death and refusal to provide breath samples causing death.

RCMP continue to investigate and are considering alcohol as a contributing factor in this collision. The deceased was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision.

The investigation continues with the assistance of an RCMP Traffic Analyst.
