RCMP have made an arrest in an ongoing sexual assault investigation that dates back to December of 2006.

On December 1, 2006, RCMP received a complaint from a female adult disclosing information regarding historical sexual assaults over a six year period by a relative. The offences allegedly occurred in Manitoba when the complainant was between 9 and 14-years-old.

The accused is a retired member of the RCMP who was posted to Manitoba when the offences allegedly occurred between 1976 and 1981. He retired from the RCMP more than 20 years ago.

The investigation into the allegations resulted in the arrest on December 3, 2013, of a 76-year-old man residing in Nova Scotia. He is being transported to Manitoba, remanded in custody and scheduled to appear in court.

After formal consultation with Manitoba Prosecution Service, the accused was charged with two counts of gross indecency and two counts of indecent assault.

To protect the identity of the victim, the name of accused and where the offences allegedly occurred will not be released.
