On January 3, 2014, at approximately 12:30pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a call of a four-vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway, west of MacGregor, Manitoba.

Initial police investigation shows that one of the drivers was closely following a lead vehicle. With winter conditions present, snow was being dusted up by the lead vehicle, blinding the following driver. A chain reaction event occurred, with the remaining vehicles colliding.

RCMP report that two individuals were taken to hospital as a precautionary measure. Injuries appear to be minor.

RCMP would like to remind motorists to drive for the conditions and have an awareness of what the road conditions are like. Drive at reduced speeds in slippery conditions, use steady and precise movements and increase your distance between other vehicles, as stopping distance on an icy road is double the stopping distance on a dry one.
