On May 11, 2009 at 3:55 a.m., RCMP Grand Rapids Detachment along with the Grand Rapids Fire Department were dispatched to the Grand Rapids Co-Op Grocery Store as the structure was reported on fire.
RCMP Grand Rapids Detachment, assisted by the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner, RCMP Thompson Major Crime Unit and the Misipawistic Cree Nation Police attended the scene.
Exact estimates of damage are not known at present but considered very extensive.
No one was injured in the blaze and the cause of the fire is still under investigation and not known at present.
The investigation continues.
