On February 3, 2014, just after 9:30am, Steinbach RCMP responded to a single-vehicle rollover half a kilometre west of the Highway 12 junction on the Trans-Canada Highway. Local fire and EMS also attended.

Police say that the vehicle rolled and came to a stop in the median between the westbound and eastbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway. Both occupants of the vehicle were transported to Ste. Anne Hospital. The male passenger, 59, was pronounced deceased. The female driver, 73, has life-threatening injuries.

RCMP report that slippery conditions are considered to be a factor in this collision. An RCMP traffic analyst will be assisting with the ongoing investigation.

Update

RCMP report that the 73-year-old female driver of the vehicle involved in this collision on the Trans-Canada Highway has succumbed to her injuries.
