On February 22, 2014, just before 10am, Central Plains RCMP executed two search warrants for firearms on Sandy Bay First Nation, Manitoba. Assisting in the search were RCMP from the Amaranth, Treherne and Portage la Prairie Detachments, the RCMP Integrated Gang Intelligence Unit and the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team, assisted by Dakota Ojibway Police Service.

Prohibited firearms, stolen firearms and ammunition seized by RCMP on Sandy Bay First Nation.

The search of two residences on the First Nation resulted in the seizure of several firearms, specifically prohibited firearms, stolen firearms and ammunition. None of the weapons or ammunition were safely stored.

RCMP report that Debora and Kenneth Beaulieu, Felix West and Jeremy Whincup, all residents of Sandy Bay First Nation, are facing numerous firearms related charges as a result of the evidence gathered during the searches:

Police say that Whincup is remanded in custody while the other three accused have been released and will appear in court in Portage la Prairie on April 14, 2014.
