On March 6, 2014, just before 8:30pm, Portage RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway at Elie, Manitoba.

Police say that the 59-year-old male driver of one of the vehicles involved in the collision was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 54-year-old female passenger was taken to Winnipeg hospital with serious injuries and is now in stable condition. Both occupants are from Winnipeg. The 47-year-old male driver of the other vehicle, a semi-trailer, was from Tache, Manitoba and was not injured in this incident.

A, RCMP traffic reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation. At this time, it appears weather conditions were a contributing factor in this collision.
