Property tax statements for The City of Steinbach have been mailed out to local property owners and are due September 30th, 2014.

Tax statements are mailed to the current owners at time of printing. It is the property owners’ responsibility to obtain a copy should they have recently purchased a property and not received a tax statement.

Tax bills issued this year total nearly $25 million. About 45 percent of this amount funds a variety of Steinbach projects, including the asphalt resurfacing of Chaddington Bay and South Park Drive, the new curling facility, Third Street and Kroeker Avenue wastewater sewer, watermain, and road reconstruction, and sidewalk construction along McKenzie Avenue and Lund Drive. It also funds municipal programs, including the City’s summer beautification program, street maintenance and snow clearing functions. The remaining 55 percent of the annual tax levy is forwarded to the Province of Manitoba and the Hanover School Division to fund various school system projects and programs.

“Steinbach’s municipal property tax rate continues to be among the lowest in the province,” said City Finance Manager, Brian Hrehirchuk. “The City will continue to exercise careful consideration to provide Steinbach taxpayers with good value for their tax dollars.”
