On August 3, 2014, shortly before 7pm, Selkirk RCMP along with local Fire and EMS responded to a fatal collision at Lyall Drive and River Road in the Rural Municipality of St. Andrews.
Initial police investigation indicates that a motorcycle had turned a corner and struck a parked vehicle. The 26-year-old male driver of Winnipeg, was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A 20-year old female passenger of Winnipeg, succumbed to her injuries.
Police say that one helmet was located at the scene, however it is not known at this time who was wearing the helmet.
RCMP report that alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this incident, though speed is considered a factor in the collision. An RCMP Collision Analyst is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
