On August 3, 2014, shortly before 2pm, a woman driving south on McDonald Street approaching Scott Avenue in Portage La Prairie was stopped by a man who was standing on the road waving his arms. There was a female spotted lying face down in the ditch.

Police say that the woman stopped her vehicle, at which time the man, who was brandishing a knife, demanded that she give him her purse. The woman who had been in the ditch attempted to get inside the vehicle, however was unable to do so.

The two suspects made away with an undisclosed amount of cash and jewellery. They fled south on foot, towards Willow and Cedar Bay.

RCMP report that no injuries were sustained during the robbery.

One of the suspects is described as male, Aboriginal in appearance, tall with a thin build. He is approximately 165 lbs with short hair and a pock-marked face. She is approximately 200 lbs with long hair which was pulled back. She was wearing a tight, light pink t-shirt and tight, black yoga pants.
