On September 10, 2014, just before 11:30am, Berens River RCMP responded to a report of the death of a six-year-old boy from Berens River, Manitoba.

Police say that a school staff member found the six-year-old in respiratory distress on the ground of the Berens River School during recess. The child was transported to the Nursing Station where he was later pronounced deceased.

RCMP report that an autopsy has been scheduled and that foul play is not suspected.

Frontier School Division and the Province of Manitoba representatives are scheduled to attend the community today with a team of counselors to provide support to children, school staff and members of the community at this difficult time.
