Since September 1, 2014, motorists are required to reduce their driving speed to 30 kilometers per hour in marked school zones. On September 15, 2014, the RCMP launched their school zone enforcement campaign in partnership with Manitoba Public Insurance.

This campaign led to a stronger police presence in designated school zones to educate drivers and enforce the new speed limits.

From September 15, 2014, to September 19, 2014, a total of 111 offence notices and warnings were issued for traffic offences, primarily speeding, in addition to some intersection and seatbelt-related infractions.

The school zone enforcement campaign runs until September 30, 2014.

Keeping our streets and children safe is everyone’s responsibility. RCMP are reminding motorists to stay alert and obey the changes to speed limits in the school zones.
