The Government of Canada is providing total funding of $50,300 to four organizations in southeastern Manitoba to support their 2015 community festivals. This funding is provided under Canadian Heritage’s Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program.

Ted Falk, Member of Parliament for Provencher, made this announcement on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

“When it comes to great local talent, our communities have a lot to offer their residents and visitors alike,” said the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.” Today, our Government is helping local festivals showcase their home-grown artists and celebrate their heritage.”

“I am pleased that our Government is supporting festivals that bring visitors to the region and get residents involved in their communities,” said Ted Falk. “I applaud the hard work of these organizations and the many volunteers that help ensure the success of these events year after year for all to enjoy!”

“The Sugaring Off Festival shares and celebrates Métis and French-Canadian history, the evolution of French education in Manitoba, and the craft of maple syrup,” said Roland Gagné, President of the St-Pierre-Jolys Museum. “The support of the Government of Canada helps us ensure the success of the Festival, and we are grateful for it.”
