On June 2, 2009 at 11:03 p.m. Virden RCMP received an anonymous call advising that a male had thrown a female off a motorcycle, that they were arguing and the male was beating the female up at Oak Lake Beach, MB. 

Police arrived in the area within fifteen minutes and attempted to get the motorcycle to stop in the Oak Lake Beach area. The motorcycle went around police and officers heard the female passenger on the back of the motorcycle screaming. Police believed that the female was in distress and pursued the motorcycle north on PTH 254 towards #1 highway. Speeds did not exceed 105 km per hour at this point.

The vehicle turned east onto #1 highway and police observed the female passenger to be flailing her arms and hitting the driver. West of Alexander, Manitoba the vehicle went through the median with the female falling off the motorcycle. The 47 year old female from Saskatchewan was transported to Brandon General Hospital. Her injuries are not serious.

The motorcycle continued eastbound in the westbound lanes of #1 highway, speeds at this time was around 120 km/h.  There was sparse westbound traffic, officers describing that there was one vehicle every couple miles this lasted for approximately 6 minutes. The female identified the driver and the pursuit was terminated in the RM of Whitehead at 11:48 p.m. After police stopped chasing the motorcycle and had allowed it to proceed, police went towards Brandon and the suspect was observed turning onto Road 114W in the RM of Cornwallis. He stopped and surrendered to police at 11:56pm.

Aaron Sean Beard 37 years of the Weybrun area, Saskatchewan has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, impaired operation MV, drive over 80 mg%, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, flight from police causing bodily harm.

Beard is making a court appearance in Brandon Court this date.
