After recently receiving a number of complaints about motorists failing to properly stop at intersections within the community of Mitchell, Steinbach RCMP conducted intersection enforcement in the community on January 20 and 21, 2015.

Police say that eight common offence notices were issued to motorists who disobeyed a traffic control device, namely a stop sign.

Steinbach RCMP respond to numerous intersection related motor vehicle collisions each year. The RCMP want to remind motorists that they must come to a complete stop at intersections where they are required to stop by a traffic control device, whether it is a red light or a stop sign. The penalty for disobeying a traffic control device is $203.80. As well, the driver could face administration penalties on their licenses from MPIC.
