On February 7, 2015, at 9:30pm, St-Pierre-Jolys RCMP, along with Selkirk Traffic Services, responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 59 at the corner of Provincial Road 311 in the RM of Hanover. The scene of the accident was approximately five kilometres east of Niverville, Manitoba.

Police say that a vehicle was traveling east on PR 311 when it failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with a vehicle travelling north on Highway 59. Both vehicles ended their course in the east ditch.

The vehicle traveling east caught on fire following impact and the unconscious male driver, a 65-year-old male from Steinbach, was pulled out of the burning vehicle by three passerbyers. HeĀ  sustained substantial injuries and was transported to hospital where he is currently in stable condition.

Two females in the other vehicle, a 25-year-old from Winnipeg and a 24-year-old from St. Cloud, Minnesota, were transported to hospital with serious injuries but are currently in stable condition.

Alcohol is not considered to be a factor in this incident. An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
