On April 6, 2015, at approximately 9:30pm, Stonewall RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 6 north of Stonewall in the RM of Woodlands.

Initial police investigation shows that an eastbound car exited a commercial parking lot and entered the roadway in the path of a northbound car.

Police say that the two occupants of the northbound vehicle, a 39-year-old male driver and a 15-year old male passenger from Ashern, Manitoba, received minor injuries in the collision and were treated at the scene. The 47-year-old male driver and lone occupant of the eastbound vehicle, from Winnipeg, suffered severe injuries and was transported to Winnipeg hospital. On April 8, 2015, he succumbed to his injuries.

RCMP report that alcohol is not considered a factor in the collision. It appears the deceased was not wearing a seatbelt. The two occupants of the northbound vehicle were wearing seatbelts.

The investigation continues with the assistance of an RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist.
