On June 1, 2015, at approximately 9:15pm, in Kilcona Park, Oakbank RCMP observed a male, who appeared to be intoxicated, enter a pickup truck and drive several metres before exiting the vehicle.

Police say that the RCMP officer who had observed this occurrence approached the male and determined that he was intoxicated. He was placed under arrest for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

RCMP report that 46–year-old Darren Murphy from the RM of Springfield, was almost three times the legal limit of blood alcohol content and has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and impaired operation over 80 mg%. He is a Winnipeg Police Service officer.

Murphy has been released from custody pending a court appearance.
