Sprague RCMP are currently investigating reports of sharpened pieces of metal being stuck in the ground along a trail located on Crown Land south of Marchand. The trail is frequented by loggers, hunters and ATV enthusiasts.

Police say that two individuals driving off road vehicles struck these partially buried pieces of metal this past weekend,  causing tire blow-outs and creating an extremely dangerous situation.

This matter is being treated very seriously and RCMP are requesting anyone with information to come forward before someone is injured. Partially burying metal or laying trees across any trail intentionally is a criminal offence and could result in a prison sentence and a substantial fine.

RCMP understand that some residents may have concerns with ATV use near their homes. Police would like to remind residents to bring their concerns up with the Municipality and with the police, not to escalate the situation by endangering lives.

If you have any information in regards to this incident you are asked to contact the Sprague RCMP Detachment at 204-437-2222 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477. You can also submit a tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text TIPMAN plus your message to CRIMES(274637).
