On June 22, 2015, just after 4pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report of a break-in and theft of firearms at a rural property in the RM of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.

During the course of the investigation, video and photo surveillance was seized that clearly identified four males.

Police say that the suspects had arrived at the home in a stolen vehicle from Winnipeg and entered the premises, where they then pried a gun safe open and stole five firearms. Portage Police Dog Services attended to assist with the investigation and photos of the suspects and their vehicle were sent to all police officers in the area.

Just before 6:30pm, the suspects were seen inside a restaurant on Saskatchewan Avenue in Portage. The suspects had left the restaurant when police arrived. When the suspects saw the police, they all fled on foot. Police pursued the suspects and were able to take them all into custody.

RCMP report that four male youths have been charged with break and enter and committing a theft. At this point, the guns have not yet been recovered.
