On July 07, 2015, at 4:19pm Blue Hills RCMP were alerted to the vandalism of two vehicles at the west end of Highway 459 at the Grand Valley Campground.

Police say that one vehicle with closed storage was broken into and the theft of over $10,000 worth of tools and welding equipment occurred.

A licence plate of a suspect truck with welding equipment was identified by a Brandon business. RCMP quickly followed the lead and located a pickup truck on 16th street in Brandon with the stolen welder and tank within two hours. The ensuing investigation identified five subjects implicated in the matter. The majority of the tools and equipment have been returned to the rightful owner.

RCMP report that two Brandon 18-year-old males have been compelled to Provincial Court in August for the mischief, theft and the possession of property obtained by crime. The other three youth, a 17-year-old female, 17-year-old male and a 16-year-old male, all from Brandon, have been directly referred to Restorative Justice pursuant to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The RCMP Forensic Identification Services Unit out of Brandon was also utilized during this investigation.
