On August 6, 2015, at approximately 7pm, officers from the Dauphin Municipal RCMP received a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred at a residence on 8th Avenue SW in Dauphin, Manitoba.

Investigators attended the scene and learned that a resident of the home had answered a knock at the door and was met by a man armed with a long gun. This suspect, along with a second suspect, entered the home demanding money from the resident. Occupants of the home told the suspects they had no money and at one point a firearm was discharged. The two suspects then ran from the home. Nobody was injured.

A search for the two suspects was commenced with the assistance of the RCMP Police Dog Service. Around 9:30 pm, investigators attended a nearby residence where they located both suspects. The two suspects were in possession of long guns and were taken into custody without incident.

“Based on the initial steps of our investigation, we believe this incident to be targeted,” says Sgt. Bert Paquet of the Manitoba RCMP. “While we continue to investigate this case. The prompt arrest of these two individuals certainly enhances the safety of our community.”

RCMP report that two 20-year-old Dauphin men remain in police custody while the investigation continues. No charges have yet been laid.
