On August 30, 2015, Leaf Rapids RCMP received a report that a group of people had located what they believed were human remains.
Officers attended the scene, located off a trail in the Leaf Rapids Detachment area and confirmed the presence of human remains.
“While we are not in a position to confirm the identity of the remains at this time, our officers have already been in contact with those believed to be the family of the deceased,” said Sgt. Bert Paquet of the Manitoba RCMP. “We are dedicated to bring certainty and closure to the affected family.”
Foul play is not suspected at this time, however the investigation into this matter is continuing. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and RCMP Forensic specialists are assisting in this case.
