On Saturday March 26, 2016, Steinbach RCMP received a call from an off-duty RCMP officer who observed two vehicles racing on Main Street in Steinbach.
Police say that one of the vehicles was located. The driver, a 20-year-old male from Mitchell, was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for racing with another motor vehicle. His vehicle was impounded for seven days and his license was suspended for seven days.
Police could not locate the second vehicle at the time, but the driver, a 19-year-old female from Mitchell, was located the next day. She was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for racing with another motor vehicle.
RCMP report that there is not a set fine for this offence and both with have to attend court to speak with a Justice member who will assess the fines.
