Steinbach RCMP recently responded to a serious single vehicle rollover on the Trans Canada Highway at Road 39E, located just east of the Paradise Village turnoff.

Police investigation determined that an Ontario man, driving a pickup truck, was traveling west when he appeared to fall asleep. The truck then slowly drifted into the median ditch, rolling several times before coming to rest on the passenger side of the vehicle.

As a result of the rollover, a 23-year-old male passenger, from Winnipeg, was  pinned inside the cab of the truck requiring extrication by the Ste. Anne Fire Department. STARS ambulance was contacted to transport the injured man to HSC in Winnipeg. The injured man was later reported to be in stable condition with critical injuries.

Police say that the male driver along with a female passenger sustained minor injuries and were transported to Ste. Anne Hospital for observation. Both were from the Kenora area.

RCMP report that a traffic analyst attended to assist with the investigation and that alcohol was not a factor in the collision.
