Sparky visits the grade two students at Bothwell School.

The program, put on by RM of Hanover Fire and The Office of the Fire Commissioner, is aimed at promoting fire safety in the home.

As part if the program, the children each get a turn being Sparky’s (the plush stuffy) handler for the day. In turn, they take a backpack home for the night. The Backpack contains games, puzzles, a book and a Sparky DVD. There is a Fire Safety Checklist which the children and parents are asked to do together.

The program aims to engage kids with parents, bringing the message home and reaffirming the fire safety message.
