Manitoba Agriculture hosted consultations with more than 100 stakeholder groups from Manitoba’s diverse agricultural industry today to facilitate discussion around industry strengths, as well as opportunities for improvement and growth. This announcement was made by Agriculture Minister Ralph Eichler.

“Agriculture and food production are important economic drivers in Manitoba,” said Eichler. “The Manitoba government values the input of agricultural stakeholders and wants to ensure they have a key role in the development of a targeted growth strategy for the industry.”

The first consultation took place on June 28 at the Manitoba Legislative Building. It was attended by more than 40 participants who spoke openly in a roundtable format about the strengths and opportunities within their sector of the industry, the minister noted.

The second consultation took place earlier today at the Portage Credit Union Centre in Portage la Prairie. Manitoba Agriculture hosted representatives from nearly 100 stakeholder groups for a full day featuring remarks from Eichler, presentations from industry experts and breakout sessions to discuss presentation subjects.

In addition to hosting group consultations, Manitoba Agriculture has set up an email address for feedback from the province’s agricultural industries. Comments and recommendations can be sent to MBAgPolicyConsultation@gov.mb.ca.
