On August 9, 2009, members of the RCMP Headingley Detachment began an investigation into a complaint that a number of children were being sexually abused in the RM of Cartier. 

Members from the RCMP Serious Crime Unit, Major Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Unit assisted Headingley Detachment members with the investigation which resulted in the arrest of a 19-year-old RM of Cartier male on August 9, 2009. He was subsequently charged with 60 Criminal Code offences including sexual assault (21 counts), sexual interference (19 counts), invitation to sexual touching (11 counts), forcible confinement (2 counts), administer a noxious thing (5 counts), juvenile prostitution (1 count) and indecent exposure (1 count).  

38 charges are youth charges and 2 charges are adult charges. The offences occurred between the year 2002 and July 2009 and all offences occurred in the RM of Cartier.

A total of 11 male victims were identified that were between the ages 8 and 14 years old when these offences occurred. 

The man charged is currently held in custody at Milner Ridge Correctional Centre.
